Tai Lü people (Chinese: 傣仂, Lao: ໄຕລື້, Thai: ไทลื้อ, Vietnamese: Người) are an ethnic group of China, Laos, Thailand, Burma, and Vietnam.
They speak a Southwestern Tai language. The Tai Lue possess an ancient script, still used by Buddhists in the region.
This profile refers to the Shui (Water) Dai in China who speak a different language from the Han Tai and Huayao Tai.
They brought with them their unique style of fabric-woven techniques, mostly performed with cotton threads. Their best known particular weaving style is called ‘Lai Ko’ or ‘Lai Nam Lai’ that includes the process of drawing out and twisting the threads into various patterns.
