Mor lam (Thai/Isan: āļŦāļĄāļāļĨāļģ, Laos: āŧāŧāšĨāšģ) is a traditional Lao form of song in Laos and Isan. Mor lam means 'expert song', or 'expert singer', referring to the music or artist respectively.
Thailand has its own distinct cultures which share their identities diversely in each region. In Northeastern (Isan) Thailand, Morlum or Isan folk performance is a popular folk performance which is a traditional folk singing accompanied by musical rhythms and melodies produced by Mor Khaen.
Mor lum is regarded as one of the cultural symbols of the Northeastern region. The major social function of this folk performance is to entertain the Isan people to be relaxed after working hard all day. Nowadays, Mor lum performance is changed far to the past in many aspects including its roles in society.
