THAI NATIONAL COSTUME | THAILAND 🇹🇭

Thai national costume by Ping Reawat Chumrod - Mr.Model International Thailand2021 at MISTER MODEL INTERNATIONAL. 2021, PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC​.

The costume is inspired by Nang Yai Wat Khanon (Khanon Temple Shadow Puppet) in Ratchaburi province which has been awarded by UNESCO as 1 of the 6 outstanding communities in the world for their work in the conservation of the abstract cultural heritage (The safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Nang Yai leather was carved from cow skin or buffalo skin to be a picture of the character "Phra Mahachanok" (Mahajanaka พระมหาชนก) one of Buddha's previous lives (Jataka ชาดก) written by King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX).
