The Festival of Light was the Culture of Asia a long time ago. Every country in Asia has a unique of this Festival and Thailand has unique too, Loy Krathong is a Thai 🇹🇭 festival in November each year celebrated throughout the kingdom since the Sukhothai period as well as nearby countries or states with Tai culture such as Laos 🇱🇦 , Shan/Mon/Burmese/Tanintharyi 🇲🇲, Kelantan/Kedah 🇲🇾 and Xishuangbanna 🇨🇳 with different names and Styles.
In Ayutthaya Period, Loy Krathong festival was mentioned in book in the sixth chapter of part two called Concerning the Shows, and other Diverſion of the Siameſes: Religious Shows: An Illumination on the Waters, and another on the Land, and in the Palace by Simon de la Loubère led an France embassy to Siam (modern Thailand) in 1687 (the "La Loubère-Céberet mission").

Lady Noppamas or Nang Noppamas, a beautiful woman thought to have lived during the Sukhothai-era around the 14th century. In a successful attempt to attract King Ramkamhaeng's attention, she crafted a lotus-shaped offering with a candle and intricate fruit carvings, among other colorful bits, and floated it downriver. Hence the Krathong was born. As the story goes, the devoutly Buddhist king was so captivated that he established a holiday to honor the Buddha on a night when rivers and canals swell, and moonlight blankets the sky.
