"Praleng Dance" is the opening dance in the theater (called "Lakorn Nai (Thai royal dance drama)" = play performed by female only) ...That has been in existence since ancient times....Nowadays it is shown in few performances....But are still preserved by the Fine Arts Department. 🇹🇭

Background: Praleng dance is the name of the opening dance of a Lakorn Nai (Thai royal dance drama) = play performed by all females) dating back to Ayutthaya.

 

I understand that it matches the performance called "Pruwarong" in Sanskrit dramas. But this is not definitively confirmed. Played as a pair of 2 dancers, the dancers are dressed the same as Thai theater masters, dressing in standing amulets but wore the head of a bald deity. Hold the peacock's tail in each hand no chorus. There is only the front song accompaniment to the dance rhythm. They are arranged in the following order: Klom music, Chamnan music, and Chord music.

1. Klom music means an important deity traveling to the ceremony area Klom music is used to accompany the performances of important gods such as Narai, Indra, Wisukarma, Sangthong.

 

2. Chamnan music means angels blessed with blessings to the audience at the performance venue. Klom music (2nd time) means angels showing joy.

 

3. Chord music means those deities returned to Divine Viman.

 

🇹🇭 The dance posture that appears Directly inherited from the royal drama of King Rama II passed through the Suan Kulab Palace theater troupe, of His Royal Highness Prince Krom Luang Nakhon Ratchasima until the Bunditpatanasilpa Institute and the Fine Arts Department.

▪️ ความเป็นมา: รำประเลง เป็นชื่อระบำเบิกโรงของละครใน มีมาแต่โบราณตั้งแต่กรุงศรีอยุธยา เข้าใจว่าตรงกับการแสดงที่เรียกว่า “ปรุวรงค” ของละครสันสกฤต แต่ไม่เป็นที่ยืนยันแน่ชัด ประเลง เป็นระบำคู่ ๒ คน ผู้รำแต่งตัวเช่นเดียวกันกับนายโรงละครไทย คือ การแต่งกายยืนเครื่องพระ แต่สวมหัวเทวดาศีรษะโล้น มือถือกำหางนกยูงข้างละมือ ไม่มีบทขับร้อง มีแต่เพลงหน้าพาทย์ ประกอบจังหวะการรำ เรียงลำดับดังนี้ คือ เพลงกลม เพลงชำนาญ และเพลงเชิด

 

▪️ เพลงหน้าพาทย์ แยกเป็นดังนี้

๑. เพลงกลม หมายถึง เทวดาสำคัญเดินทางมายังมณฑลพิธี เพลงกลมใช้ประกอบการแสดงของเทพเจ้าสำคัญ เช่น พระนารายณ์ พระอินทร์ พระวิสุกรรม เงาะ ในเรื่องสังข์ทอง ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นรูปกายสิทธิ์

๒. เพลงชำนาญ หมายถึง เทวดาประสาทพรชัยมงคล ให้กับผู้ชม สถานที่แสดง เพลงกลม (ครั้งที่ ๒) หมายถึง เทวดาแสดงความรื่นเริงยินดี

๓. เพลงเชิด หมายถึง เทวดาเหล่านั้นเสด็จกลับสู่ทิพยวิมาน

 

▪️ ท่ารำที่ปรากฏนั้นสืบทอดมาโดยตรงจากละครหลวงของพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธเลิศหล้านภาลัย รัชกาลที่ ๒ ผ่านมายังคณะละครวังสวนกุหลาบของสมเด็จพระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอเจ้าฟ้ากรมหลวงนครราชสีมา จนถึง สถาบันบัณฑิตพัฒนศิลป์ และกรมศิลปากร

 

▪️ จุดประสงค์สำคัญในการแสดงรำประเลง นอกจากจะเป็นจารีตประเพณีการแสดงเบิกโรงรูปแบบราชสำนักแล้ว ยังมีความเชื่อว่าเป็นการแสดงที่ก่อให้เกิดสวัสดิมงคล ขจัดอุปสรรค ให้การแสดงในคราวนั้นๆ ประสบผลสำเร็จทุกประการ

▪️ ปัจจุบันการแสดงชุดนี้ มีการรักษาไว้ในสถาบันการศึกษาของสถาบันบัณฑิตพัฒนศิลป์ และกรมศิลปากร แต่โอกาสที่นำออกแสดงเผยแพร่มีน้อยมาก เนื่องจากการแสดงในปัจจุบัน ไม่นิยมการแสดงเบิกโรงก่อนการแสดงเรื่องใหญ่ๆ แต่นิยมแสดงเรื่องใหญ่เรื่องเดียว
