Malai Khrui 🇹🇭

 

มาลัยครุย หรือ มาลัยเปียสะพายแล่ง 

 

Malai Krui is a large round garland with a coquettish bouquet hanging around both the outside and the inside which is used to wear over the shoulder similar to covering "Sabai Chiang" (breast cloth) when wearing a loincloth.

“มาลัยครุย” หรือ “มาลัยเปียสะพายแล่ง” ผู้ที่คิดประดิษฐ์ คือ #พระสนมในรัชกาลที่๕ …(ท่านเจ้าคุณพระประยูรวงศ์)… เป็นมาลัยกลมขนาดใหญ่มีอุบะตุ้งติ้งห้อยระบายเป็นครุยโดยรอบทั้งด้านนอกและด้านใน เป็นมาลัยชายเดียวขนาดใหญ่ ซึ่งใช้สวมสะพายคล้ายกับการห่มสไบเฉียง เมื่อนุ่งโจงกระเบน หนังสือวัฒนธรรมไทยชุดการจัดดอกไม้สดได้ระบุว่าผู้คิด คือ ท่านเจ้าคุณพระประยูรวงศ์ นามเดิม คือ เจ้าคุณจอมมารดาแพ ในรัชกาลที่ ๕ งานมาลัยจะถูกพัฒนาและสร้างสรรค์มากในสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๕ เนื่องจากมีการจัดแข่งขันร้อยมาลัยมากขึ้น อีกทั้งยังเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้หญิงได้เรียนหนังสือ และหนังสือตำนานว่าวพนันฯ ของพระยาภิรมย์ภักดี (บุญรอด เศรษฐบุตร)

 

ในตอนหนึ่งได้กล่าวถึงการแข่งว่าวพนันในครั้งหนึ่ง ณ สนามสวนดุสิต สมัยรัชกาลที่ ๕ ว่าผู้ชนะการแข่งขันจะได้รับพระราชทานรางวัล คือ “พวงมาลัยเปียสพายแล่งมีอุบะห้อย” ซึ่งจากภาพประกอบในหนังสือนั้น มีลักษณะคล้าย “มาลัยครุย” ที่เรียกกันในปัจจุบัน จึงอาจกล่าวได้ว่ามาลัยเปียกับมาลัยครุยเป็นมาลัยชนิดเดียวกัน และสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๖ มีการใช้มาลัยครุยประกอบเครื่องแต่งกายโขนอีกด้วย

 

มาลัยครุยประกอบไปด้วย

 

๑.) ตัวมาลัย ส่วนใหญ่ร้อยเป็นมาลัยกลม นิยมใช้ดอกมะลิ ดอกพุด ใบแก้วหรือกลีบกุหลาบ โดยใช้ดอกไม้ชนิดเดียว หรือดอกไม้หลายชนิดร้อยสลับกันไปเป็นตัวมาลัย

 

๒.) อุบะ คือ ส่วนที่ห้อยชายลงมาประดับพวงมาลัยให้สวยงาม นิยมใช้เป็นอุบะไทยทรงเครื่อง ดอกไม้ที่นิยมใช้ได้แก่ ดอกรัก ดอกจำปีหรือดอกจำปา
