Sang Thong Thai Classical Dance 🇹🇭

This is a scene from the classical Thai drama 'The Tale of Sang Thong' when Princess Rojana chooses her mate by throwing phuang malai garland to Chao Ngo who is Prince Sang Thong in disguise.

 

The dance was performed by students of Srinakharinwirot University Prasarnmit Demonstration School.

 

Khon masked dance and Thai classical dances have had a strong influence on neighboring Cambodia. During the period when Cambodia was under Siamese rule, Cambodian kings invited dancers from Siam to teach Cambodian performers in the royal court. As a result, Cambodian dances appear to be a copied version of Thai dances.
