Its strapless bodice is concealed beneath a separate pleated shoulder cloth, with a second, embroidered shoulder cloth on top. This style of dress may be worn for formal banquets and official dinners.

Sabai (สไบ) is a shawl-like breast cloth in Thailand. The word sabai originates from the Austronesian term *cahebay, meaning “to hang,” with roots in south China around 5,000-4,500 BCE. In Thailand, evidence of the sabai appears in Dvaravati stucco reliefs showing five women musicians wearing sabai while playing instruments, demonstrating its long history since the 6th century.
