Khon masked dance drama in Thailand is a performing art that combines musical, vocal and dance. With a history of over 400 years, it depicts the story of Ramakien (adapted from Ramayana epic) to glorify Rama; the incarnation of the god Vishnu, who brings order and justice to the world.

Khon has been Inscribed in 2018 on the Representative List of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity from Thailand.

Khon masked dance and Thai classical dances have had a strong influence on neighboring Cambodia. During the period when Cambodia was under Siamese rule, Cambodian kings invited dancers from Siam to teach Cambodian performers in the royal court. As a result, Cambodian dances appear to be a copied version of Thai dances.
