✦ Traditional Thai lunch box which is called "PINTO" by Thai people, is a popular lunch box for Thai people especially in upcountry province to carry their food for lunch or meal outside their home. Beside, PINTO is also familiar and involve with Thai culture for a long time for example Thai people will carry their food into PINTO to offer monk when they go to temple.
⚜️ HISTORY: There is an assumption that The tiffins are probably from “Chinese people” who live in Thailand, because in China has long been used as food containers as well. The original of Pinto is "the Chinese Wedding Basket" weaved from rattan or bamboo. The basket, which has a wooden bottom, is hand-woven fo split bamboo and willow fibers in two layers to provide strength and rigidity.
✦ And on the other hand, the word "Pinto" is probably a distorted word "Bento" in Japanese. Which has confirmed information from the paintings of Japanese people at "Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimonmangkalaram" or "Wat Pho" that was written in the reign of King Rama III of Siam.
