✦ The angelic scene of heaven. Cherd-Ching Mekhala Dance has been performed in the history of Thai classical dance since Ayuddhaya Period until the present.

People in the east such as India, China and countries in the Indochinese peninsula, including Thais, believe that all phenomenon of thunder, flashes and strokes of lightning occur because the magic power of the Mekla ( the goddess of lightning ) is magic glass ball (crystal ball) and Ramasura (the god of thunder) is magic axe as the story tells.

✦ Tale of the Rainy Season is about an angel guardian of the oceans called Mekhala (เมขลา) or Manimekhala (มณีเมขลา) travels to join the annual gathering of devas at the begining of the rainy season. 

Mani mekhala is a goddess who looks after territorial water. She is the one who holds a glass ball, teasing Ramasura to throw the axe that causes a flash of lightning and thunder.

A demon named Ramasura (รามสูร) is attracted by Mekhala's crystal ball. Mekhala refuses to give him her crystal ball and Ramasura starts to chase and throw his ax to Mekhala.
