People carry devices that are powered by gears complex for use as a facility or even the costumes that King Rama V brought from the West and adapted to the Thai costumes of that time. But it has always remained a Thai identity.

 ในช่วงศตวรรษที่ ๑๘ หลังมีการปฏิวัติอุตสาหกรรม ความรู้และวิทยาการจำนวนมากจากตะวันตกได้หลั่งไหลออกไปสู่นานาประเทศ และหนึ่งในประเทศที่ได้รับอิทธิพลและนำมันเข้ามาใช้ คือ สยาม (ไทย) ซึ่งนั่นได้พลิกโฉมหน้าของประเทศหนึ่งในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้

 ด้วยวิทยาการที่เจริญขึ้น สิ่งที่มีมากขึ้นนั้น คือ ความเจริญรุ่งเรืองของประเทศ ไม่ว่าจะเงินตรา เทคโนโลยี ความเป็นอยู่หรือวิถีชีวิต สยามได้เปลี่ยนแปลงกลายเป็นหนึ่งในประเทศอุตสาหกรรม โรงงาน เครื่องจักรไอน้ำ หรือแม้แต่รถไฟก็เข้ามาเป็นประเทศแรกในแถบเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ และเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของชีวิตสยามในเวลานั้น

 ด้วยพลังของเครื่องจักรไอน้ำและกลไกของฟันเฟืองจำนวนมาก มันได้กลายเป็นศูนย์กลางชีวิตของประเทศ ผู้คนต่างพกพาอุปกรณ์ทั้งหลายที่ขับเคลื่อนด้วยฟันเฟือง อันซับซ้อนสำหรับใช้เป็นเครื่องอำนวยความสะดวก หรือแม้กระทั่งเครื่องแต่งกายที่รัชกาลที่ ๕ ได้นำแบบการแต่งกายจากตะวันตกมาและปรับให้เข้ากับชุดไทยในสมัยนั้น แต่ก็ยังคงเอกลักษณ์ความเป็นไทยเสมอมา
